Ralph Waldo Emerson said "Each moment of the year has it's own beauty." I believe those words to be true. It's hard for me to imagine living in a place without four distinct season. Especially being born and raised in the DMV (DC, Maryland & Virginia). Here in Baltimore, we can get all four seasons in one week.
I am thankful for the weather, change of seasons and all the nature has to offer. No matter how much I hate to be cold, I look forward to the leaves of autumn and snowy winters. While allergies are dreadful, there is nothing like watching colors grow from everything that was gray, Humidity can be overbearing, but the spirit of summer lightens the load.
About 25 years ago, Disney released a film adaption of Pocahontas. The story they told was COMPLETELY inaccurate. But the song Colors of Wind, sung by Vanessa L. Williams has stuck with me throughout my life. That scene with Pocahontas explaining the beauty of nature and earth made an impression on me.
We need all need to slow down and appreciate the beauty of nature. Only then will we be able to paint with the colors of the wind.
