May Flowers

I'm pretty sure most people have heard the old proverb "April showers bring May flowers." And in this year, 2020, that truth cannot be any more obvious.

The month of April felt like a storm. Change is hard and with the shelter-in-place orders that began around the country in March; people were forced to confront some huge challenges. It takes 21 days to make or break and habit and the month of April was that time. Now what do we do after the hurricane?

First we can stop and recognize that the storm is not over. We may not even be through the worst of it, but it's okay. If anything hurricane's teach us that the power of coming together is real. The power community is real. The power of love is real. We need to come together to help one another. That is May's flower.

If you have an idea for a new business, a book, or community service initiative let it grow. If you are in place that you realize your mental health has been challenged, that okay take the time to get the help you need. Growth does not look the same for any two people. If you see an opportunity to be there for someone and support them do that.

Who you are, who you can become and how you bloom is up to you. Just remember that April showers bring May flowers. I hope you allow yourselves to bloom this month.
